What types of therapy services does Milestone offer?

Milestone Pediatric Therapy currently offers pediatric physical therapy services only.

In the future, we have some big dreams of offering other types of therapy services like occupational therapy or speech therapy services.

If you are looking for these other types of services, do not hesitate to still reach out. We are happy to go over our list of local providers with you and direct you to a provider who will be able to best help your child!

Does Milestone accept my insurance?

Milestone Pediatric Therapy is considered out of network for all insurance providers. However, Milestone will provide families with a Superbill for each session that contains all the necessary information, including ICD-10 and CPT codes, for a client's individual insurance company to reimburse you directly should you decide to submit the claim. Milestone is happy to help parents with the process of submitting to insurance but we do not directly handle any claims.

We have chosen this approach as we feel this allows us to focus on treating your child with the best care, giving the best one-on-one, individualized programing your child needs to meet their goals. It allows us to design the best treatment plan for the progress and goals of your child. It also allows us to incorporate sessions in the community, one-on-one consultations with other providers in your child's care, as well as new technology and research that may not be covered by your insurance company.

Please see Milestone's blog post "5 Reasons Why Fee-for-Service Therapy is Better" for more information!

However if you prefer to use your insurance, Milestone Pediatric Therapy is proud to partner with Body Elite Physical Therapy to be able to accept nearly all forms of insurance including most Medicaid.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

For physical therapy services, Dr. McIntyre is direct access certified. Direct Access laws in Virginia allow Dr. McIntyre to treat a client for a specific complaint for 60 days without a doctors prescription IF the client has NOT visited the MD for the same complaint in the past 90 days. The plan of care will be sent to the parent's physician of choice for signature and notification their client is being treated.

In all other cases, a client will need to have a script written by a physician for Dr. McIntyre to treat.
